God Sees You First — Exodus 3 Devotional
There is a particular kind of yes you say while everything inside shakes its head. Moses knew it. But God did not arrive with a pep talk. God arrived to say: I have been watching. I already know. And I am sending you anyway.
There is a particular kind of yes you say while everything inside you is shaking its head. Someone hands you a responsibility, names you for a role, looks at you like you are exactly the right person, and you nod. You smile. You say you will think about it. And underneath the smile sits a quiet, private certainty: if they knew the real version, the one who has tried before and come up short, they would have asked someone else.
Moses knew that feeling. He is standing in the middle of nowhere, tending someone else's sheep, having fled Egypt years before under circumstances he would rather not revisit. And God shows up. Not with a pep talk. Not with a reminder of Moses' hidden potential. God shows up to say, in effect: I have been watching. I already know. And I am sending you anyway.
