A Promise of Privacy
A Promise of Privacy
Last updated: April 3, 2026
Daily Braids (a digital publication and an assumed name of Stick Glass, LLC, a Michigan limited liability company) is committed to being a "quiet corner" of the internet.
This Policy only applies to our website and its related features. Our website is accessible to users who reside in the United States. By using this site, you represent and warrant that you meet all eligibility requirements enumerated in our Terms of Use, which are incorporated by reference into this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Policy or our Terms, you must not access or use this website.
We collect only information about you that is necessary to weave our reflections into your life. We do not sell your data, we do not use intrusive tracking, and we do not participate in the "attention economy" that treats you like a product.
1. What We Collect and Why
To facilitate your practice, we collect a small amount of information:
- Your Name and Email: You provide this voluntarily so we can send you The Braid, The Strand, and our weekly newsletters.
- Billing Information: If you choose a paid subscription, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details. Daily Braids does not see or store your credit card number.
- Digital Footprints (IP Address): Like almost every website, our host (Ghost) automatically logs basic technical data (like your IP address and browser type) to keep the site secure and functioning correctly.
2. Who We Disclose Information To
We may disclose your information to third parties that perform services on our behalf or help operate, host, maintain, or support the website, including service providers, vendors, and technology partners. We may also share information internally with our employees, contractors, and representatives who have a legitimate need to access such information in order to perform their duties and support our operations. All such parties are permitted to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us or to carry out their functions on our behalf.
3. Our Partners in the Chain
We use a few trusted tools to keep our "braids" flowing. Each has their own high standards for privacy:
- Ghost: Our home. They host our content and manage our email list. They act as a "data processor," meaning they only use your information to help us deliver our services to you.
- Stripe: Our bank. They handle all financial transactions with industry-standard security.
4. Cookies and Tracking
We use small files called "cookies" to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. These aren’t here to follow you around the internet; they are simply breadcrumbs that help you find your way back to your center on our site.
5. No Noise, No Sales
We are here to help you bypass the noise, not add to it. We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third-party "data brokers" or advertisers. Your presence here is a relationship, not a transaction.
6. Children Under 18
Our services are not intended for children under 18. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 18 without parental consent, we will delete it immediately.
7. Your Rights and Data Retention
- Access/Update: You can update your information at any time via your account page.
- Unsubscribe: You may opt out of emails via the "Unsubscribe" link in any footer.
- Pruning: We perform monthly maintenance to remove inactive records.
Privacy laws in certain states may provide residents with additional rights or choices regarding their personal information. If you are a resident of such a state, these rights may apply to you in addition to those described above, subject to applicable limitations and exceptions. Please contact us at the information provided in Section 9 of this Policy if you would like additional information about state-specific rights.
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. We retain personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected; to comply with applicable legal, regulatory, or contractual obligations; to resolve disputes; and to enforce our agreements. Retention periods may vary depending on the nature of the information and the purposes for which it is processed.
8. Changes to This Policy
The Company reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, revise, or update this Policy occasionally for any reason at any time. Any such changes will be effective immediately upon posting the revised Policy on the site. Your continued access to or use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Policy.
