Peace Already Given — Romans 5:1-8 Devotional
There is a way of saying 'God loves me' that sounds exactly like reciting a street address. Accurate. Memorized. Flat. But Paul's opening move in Romans 5 is not a command to believe harder.
The Right Answer You Cannot Feel
There is a way of saying "God loves me" that sounds exactly like reciting a street address. Accurate. Memorized. Flat. You know the words. You could pass the quiz. And yet somewhere between the page and your chest, the truth stalls out. Maybe it surfaces in the quiet before sleep, when the day's small failures line up for review. Maybe it arrives on a Sunday morning, when the words in the bulletin feel like they belong to someone else's life. You believe it. You just cannot seem to feel it.
Paul's opening move in Romans 5 is not a command to believe harder or feel more. It is a declaration about what is already true. Before you do anything, something has already been done.
