Prepare Your Mind for Battle — 1 Peter 1:13-16
Peter's military language for spiritual readiness isn't about achieving instant perfection. It's about tucking your mental robes each morning, seeing old patterns clearly, and choosing differently—not through willpower alone, but through grace.
Tucking Your Robe for Battle
Watch someone try to outrun their own shadow. The harder they sprint, the more exhausted they become, lungs burning, legs trembling. Yet the shadow never falls behind. It stretches and shrinks but remains faithfully attached, mocking every attempt at escape. This is what it feels like to run from who we used to be, those old patterns, those familiar sins that seem to follow us no matter how desperately we try to leave them behind.
