The Ground Is Dry and Nothing Moves — Genesis 8 Devotional
Noah lifted the covering of the ark and saw dry ground with his own eyes. By every visible measure, the flood was finished. And yet he stayed inside, waiting for a word that had not yet arrived.
The Ground Is Dry and Nothing Moves
There is a particular kind of waiting that no one warns you about. Not the waiting before the storm, when everything is loud and urgent. The other kind. The quiet kind that comes after. The job application you keep refreshing. The conversation you keep almost having. The next step you have rehearsed a hundred times because everything around you seems to say the moment has finally come. You have checked. You have waited. The ground looks dry. And still, nothing moves.
It is a strange ache, being ready but not released. You survived the hard thing, and now you are stuck in the odd silence that follows, wondering if you are even allowed to step forward.
