When Obedience Sits in Silence — Genesis 7 Devotional

There is a particular kind of tiredness that comes not from doing the wrong thing, but from doing the right thing while nothing changes. You apologized, and the relationship stayed cold. You stayed when you believed God wanted you to stay, and the situation did not improve. You stopped something because you felt called to, and now you wonder if you imagined the whole thing. Picture Noah on the seventh day. The ark is finished. The animals are settled. His family is inside. He has done everything God said, exactly as God said it. And the sky is clear. No rain. No thunder. Just the ordinary sounds of neighbors going about their day, perhaps glancing at the strange boat on dry land, perhaps laughing, perhaps having forgotten it entirely. This passage lives inside that silence.
