When Your Prayer Still Looks Like Silence — Genesis 15

Abram had waited years. When he finally brought his real question—what can you give me since I remain childless—God did not rebuke him. God took him outside and showed him the stars. Faith, it turns out, is not certainty. It is direction.

When Your Prayer Still Looks Like Silence — Genesis 15

Somewhere there is a prayer you wrote years ago. Maybe you meant it. Maybe the handwriting was confident, sure that by now the thing you asked for would have come. And here you are, same page, different year, wondering if anyone ever read that prayer at all. The promise was real. The hope was real. And nothing has changed.

This is exactly where Abram is when the word of the Lord comes to him. Not on his knees in grateful worship. He is standing in the gap between a spoken promise and an unchanged life, and his first words back to God are essentially a complaint. What follows is not a rebuke. It is stars.

Take a moment to read Genesis 15:1-20. Read it on Bible Gateway if you'd like.
