Spiritual Performance vs. Real Peace — 1 Samuel 15
We've all greeted God with our brightest smile while surrounded by evidence of our compromise. Saul did the same—declaring obedience while sheep bleated in the background. A devotional on what it costs to perform peace instead of living it.
When Peace Isn't Peace
We've all done it. That moment when someone asks how we're doing spiritually, and we flash our brightest smile: "Great! Everything's wonderful!" Meanwhile, the evidence of our compromise surrounds us, the habits we haven't addressed, the relationships we've let deteriorate, the spiritual disciplines we've abandoned. We've become masters at greeting God and others with claims of peace while our lives tell a different story.
This is where we find King Saul. Standing before the prophet Samuel, he declares victory and faithfulness. But in the background, everyone can hear it, the bleating of sheep and the lowing of cattle that were supposed to be destroyed. His spiritual performance is about to meet reality.
